A new poll has found that the majority of American voters believe that the country is in a state of cultural and economic decline.
The poll, conducted by The Trafalgar Group in partnership with Convention of States Action, found that 72.5 percent of US likely general election voters believe the country is in a state of decline. 21.6 percent said that the country was not in a state of decline, while 5.9 percent said they were not sure.
By political party, 50.7 percent of Democrats believe the US is in decline, along with 91.7 percent of Republicans and 71.5 percent of independents.
The poll also found that the majority of voters think everyday Americans, rather than elected officials, are best equipped to reverse this state of decline, at 80.6 and 19.4 percent, respectively.
