In yet another one of his predictions that aged like milk, Joe Biden predicted in 2020 that if Donald Trump were reelected, he would start a war with Iran.
“The world has changed because of what Trump has done” Biden told the now-bankrupt VICE News. And the American people, including Independents and some Republicans, know how bad he is. They know how much he’s misrepresented - they know how close he is to getting us in a war. I’ve said that as the walls close in on this man he’s going to get us into war with Iran. Unfortunately, I may have been right.”
In early 2020 Biden accused Trump of escalating tensions with Iran by ordering the killing of Iranian General Qassem Soleimani. Iran did retaliate for Soleimani’s killing by firing rockets at two Iraqi air bases housing U.S. forces, but fortunately there were no casualties or further escalations.
Fast-forward three years, and it’s now Biden warning that the U.S. could be drawn into a war with Iran on his watch.
“If Iran succeeds in significantly escalating its assault on Israel, the U.S. could be drawn in,” Biden warned yesterday. “Israel is our strongest partner in the Middle East; it’s unthinkable that we would stand by if its defenses were weakened and Iran was able to carry out the destruction it intended this weekend.”
