During an exchange with the often humorous Sen. John Kennedy, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen attempted to argue that Bidenflation actually has nothing to do with Joe Biden, and was actually caused by the COVID pandemic (a departure from the administration’s usual talking points that just ignored the inflation problem).
“These high prices caused by Bidenomics are here to stay, aren't they?” Kennedy asked Yellen.
“Well the high prices weren’t caused by Bidenomics. We suffered a pandemic that resulted in severe dislocation of -” Yellen began to say, before Kennedy interjected to reiterate his question.
“I don't expect the level of prices to go down. . . . Some prices will be higher than they were before the pandemic and will stay higher,” Yellen replied.
