DOJ launches ‘Strike Force’ to investigate Tulsi Gabbard’s claims of intelligence community ‘weaponization’

The Department of Justice announced Wednesday the formation of a special Strike Force to review and investigate allegations raised by Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard regarding the “alleged weaponization of the US intelligence community.”

The DOJ did not specify what allegations it would be investigating. However, the move follows claims by Gabbard that former President Barack Obama orchestrated a “years-long coup” against the American public by directing the creation of a fake intelligence report alleging Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.

“The evidence that we have found and that we have released directly points to President Obama leading the manufacturing of this intelligence assessment,” Gabbard said in a White House briefing, referring to the intelligence report issued weeks before President Donald Trump’s 2017 inauguration.

When asked by a reporter whether she believed the evidence pointed to criminal wrongdoing by the former president, Gabbard responded, "We have referred and will continue to refer all of these documents to the Department of Justice and the FBI to investigate the criminal implications of this.”
