Federal prosecutors on Friday unsealed a 49-page indictment outlining their case against former President Donald Trump on charges that he mishandled classified documents after leaving the White House and then obstructed investigators’ efforts to retrieve them.
The indictment comprises 38 counts including willful retention of classified information, withholding a record, conspiracy, false statements and obstruction.
It also charged Trump’s military valet, Walt Nauta, who went to work at the Florida resort after working in the White House.
The classified documents Trump kept in his boxes included information about U.S. and foreign defense and weapons capabilities, U.S. nuclear programs, potential vulnerabilities of the U.S. and its allies to military attack, and plans for a possible retaliation in response to a foreign attack, the indictment said.
