It’s awfully hard to take the liberal position on the gun control debate seriously when its proponents can’t even properly name what they want to ban.
Many liberals have long incorrectly believed that the “AR” in AR-15 stands for “assault rifle,” and during a debate on Fox’s “The Five” this week, Geraldo Rivera made a similar error.
"I submit to you, ladies and gentlemen, there is no legitimate reason ... to have an AR-15," Rivera told the panel, to which Greg Gutfeld replied “What does 'AR' stand for?”
“It is an automatic rifle," Rivera answered, with a straight face.
When Gutfeld informed Rivera that’s not what it means, he immediately pivoted and said "All I know is AR-15s have no place in American society other than in sports clubs."

While this isn’t probably isn’t news to anyone reading this, the “AR” in AR-15 means ArmaLite, the name of the company that designed the rifle. While liberals who believe that it means “assault rifle” are still incorrect, at least they don’t think AR-15s are machine guns.
