In what’s arguably one of the least self-aware moments of politics this year, Alexander Soros, who now runs the multibillion dollar empire of his father George, is upset about the influence of unelected billionaires on American politics.
Always active on social media, Alex shared a tweet (in agreement) from Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer claiming that “An unelected shadow government is conducting a hostile takeover of the federal government.”
Democracy PAC II, which is now controlled by (an unelected) Alex, gave $2.5 million to Schumer in 2023. The duo also had meetings together at the 2024 DNC.
Schumer has specifically been enraged as of late at Musk’s efforts to decimate USAID, whose activities as a liberal slush fund have been increasingly brought to light after Musk began targeting the $68 billion agency. Schumer gave remarks on the Senate floor earlier this week to condemn the supposed “illegal seizure of USAID,” and laughably claimed that it would be illegal to close the agency.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt pointed out that some projects included $1.5 million to advance DEI in Serbia’s workplace, $70,000 for a DEI musical in Ireland, $47,000 for a transgender opera in Columbia, $32,000 for a transgender comic book in Peru, and that doesn’t even touch the surface.
This all raises the question, how does an agency billed one one responsible for “administering civilian foreign aid and development assistance”?
Alex himself is descended from the answer to that question.
As I wrote yesterday, it’s Soros influence that mandated tying progressive lunacy to actual aid. To quote direction from my prior article:
While USAID hadn’t been in the public eye for most until the past week, the Heritage Foundation in 2017 exposed Soros as the “main implementor” of their so-called aid since at least the start of the Obama administration. As they documented:
During the Obama years the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) was used to promote abroad policies that remain controversial within American society itself and that serve no clear national security interests. To achieve these ends, USAID has teamed up in some countries with groups funded by financier George Soros.
It was at this time that USAID started tying development money to countries taking progressive stances on gay/transgender rights, among other leftist causes including legalizing prostitution, and decriminalizing drugs. This happened to African countries, and European countries “from Ireland to Macedonia.”
A movement called “Stop Operation Soros” in Macedonia called on USAID to be audited and accused them of contributing to the political crisis in their country. Among Soros’ activities there included his foundation publishing a translated version of Saul Alinsky’s infamous book “Rules for Radicals” and having it distributed.
USAID was later sued by Judicial Watch in connection to $5 million in funds that they say went into the hands of Soros’ foundation in Macedonia.
From 2012 to 2016, about $5 million was spent in Macedonia, training hundreds of young Macedonians on topics such as freedom of association, youth politics, civic activism, persuasive argumentation and new media, informs Telegrafi. Macedonia.
Judicial Watch considers that there has been interference in the internal politics of Macedonia that could be included in the violation of the Vienna Convention on diplomatic relations.
Heritage echoes the same allegation; that USAID money is winding up directly in Soros’ hands;
It is Soros’s right as a private individual to act on his convictions, but evidence is emerging that during the past eight years [leading up to 2017], Soros, his Open Societies Foundations (OSF), and their many smaller affiliates have received U.S. taxpayer money through USAID and that USAID has made the OSF the main implementer of its aid.
Making matters more ironic, Alex was recently profiled in the Financial Times in an interview that he has pinned to the top of his X/Twitter profile - and in it, they describe him as the "Elon Musk of liberals."
