Conservatives are pushing back against President Trump's shocking post on Truth Social, where he celebrated the death of Robert Mueller. The former FBI director passed away on Saturday at the age of 81, as confirmed by his family. Mueller's two-year investigation concluded in 2019 that Russia had interfered in the election to aid President Donald Trump's 2016 campaign.
Reacting to the death of the former DOJ official, President Trump posted on Truth Social: "Robert Mueller just died. Good, I'm glad he's dead. He can no longer hurt innocent people!"
Trump's post immediately sparked outrage across the political spectrum. Brit Hume, Fox News' chief political analyst, wrote on X: "This is the kind of stuff Trump does that makes people not just oppose him but hate him. There was no need to say anything." Former RNC Chairman Michael Steele also criticized Trump on X, labeling the president a "vile disgusting man" for his comments on Mueller's death.
