No matter how much he dominates every rally, interview, and debate, this election is not guaranteed for President Trump. The Democratic machine is running at full capacity, doing everything in its power to ensure a progressive victory, from George Soros buying radio stations to fast-tracking citizenship approvals. If Tim Walz is their best offering, we should be alarmed by the incompetence a Democratic victory could bring. Republicans must have a plan to win—and, if the unthinkable should happen, to "Kamala-proof" the levers of power.
The Chinese Communist Party remains the biggest threat to America in 2025. The contrast between the candidates on this issue is stark. Senator JD Vance emphasizes taking back our economic dominance by re-shoring businesses and calling out China as a bad actor on both human rights and the environment. Meanwhile, Walz couldn't even remember why he lied about being in China during the Tiananmen Square Massacre. The possibility of this level of incompetence in the White House should concern every American.
When Joe Biden was the nominee in 2020, there were obvious concerns about how he would govern. His judicial appointees and far-left staffers have delivered exactly what we feared. Kamala Harris, known for her progressive policies, should set off even more alarms. But Biden’s long record of bipartisanship lulled many GOP Members of Congress into complacency. That cannot happen again. Harris, who boasts one of the most progressive records in the Senate, must not be allowed to govern unchecked, and those checks must come ahead of her inauguration where possible.
Economic issues must be the key focus of Congress in any damage control. Harris has endorsed the radical Green New Deal, wants to ban fracking, regulate gas stoves, raise taxes, and overregulate small businesses. These policies are well-documented and would be disastrous for our economy. Congress must act now to pre-empt any executive orders she may try to implement unilaterally.
But the most important economic issue is a geopolitical one as well: China. Harris’s views on China are dangerously naive. She has said she doesn’t want to “decouple” from China, our greatest adversary, and believes we can still work with them. This is absurd. President Trump changed the game when it came to confronting China, and Harris’s administration would reverse that progress. His willingness to strategically use tariffs when it comes to China and others trying to take advantage of American companies and workers is just common sense.
JD Vance nailed it last Tuesday night, highlighting how a Harris-Walz administration would continue sending manufacturing to countries with lax environmental standards while shackling the U.S. economy with Green New Deal regulations. The biggest winner in that scenario? China—the world’s largest polluter. Congress must pass legislation that holds China accountable for their pollution, such as tariffs that level the playing field for U.S. businesses. Such a move would put Harris and the Democrats in a bind, forcing them to either support such legislation or be exposed as environmental hypocrites more concerned with placating China than protecting American workers.
Foreign policy is another area where Harris’s incompetence could prove disastrous. The Biden-Harris administration has already failed on this front, most notably with the chaotic Afghanistan withdrawal. That debacle highlighted their unfitness for leadership, and we cannot risk more American lives to their reckless decision-making. Congress must assert its role and demand approval of any military action abroad, preventing a potential Harris administration from endangering our troops further.
Of course I’m not naïve enough to believe that Republicans could implement all this before Inauguration Day. I’ll have you know, it’s not just Republicans who are concerned. Some Democrats in Congress, who know Harris well, are also worried about her potential presidency. In a post-election scenario, we could see bipartisan efforts to limit her power, particularly on issues like military intervention and economic policy.
Congress has a busy road ahead, but it’s vital that Republicans start planning now for these possibilities. We can’t be caught unprepared if the unthinkable happens. America is a great nation and has endured worse. With resolve, creativity, and a commitment to limiting the power of a Harris presidency, we can protect our country from the worst of what a progressive administration might bring.
